Made the trip to Michigan to run with the National Compact Touring Series Presented by Rev X at Kalamazoo Speedway and to try and run Corrigan Oil Speedway. Corrigan got rained out for friday. But Thursday we did get to race.
Got out on the track for our 1 and only practice session. Had a game plan because it was a 20 minute session. Came in after 6 to 8 laps and made adjustments. Went back out and did what i could. My transponder was not reading there for some reason. So no clue what i was doing for times. But got feeling good with the track. Adjustments was still needed. Talked about it and went for it. Got a track transponder and prepped for qualifying. Did not know how they did qualifying. Thought it was just normal group. But we could of made more adjustments and tried again. We did not. Over all after the last 2 late arrivals went out, we were sitting 13th in time out of 26 drivers. Not to bad. Looked at everything and made some more adjustments.
No heat races and we were in the AMain. Started someplace in the middle. We took the green and slowly started making our way to forward. Few yellow flags flew. We just kept at it. 6 laps to go there was another yellow flag. We were in 10th. Took the green and 2 other cars ahead of us got into it and i dis not see it right away. Tried to avoid them and i plowed right into the rear of one of those cars. Got to the pit and was hoping to just change the tire and remove part of the bumper cover and thats when they seen more problems. Our night was done. Yes i was more then mad. After a bit, i calmed down and we went to work to try and fix the car for Friday’s race. Then pulled the plug after reviewing few things. Loaded up and relaxed the rest of our time there.
Cant thank everyone for the help. Heather Dewey and Ken Perry for being my crew and soing what you could. Ashley Bell and Shawn Grabinger for coming over to try and help get me back out on the track. Tim Finstad for helping getting that one part back on my car after all said and done.
Over all it was a fun track. Great facility. Cant thank the National Compact Touring Series enough for doing what they do.
